Watermelon at Lake Martin

Lake Martin!

This summer, Daddy rented us a villa at Lake Martin for five days. Unfortunately, we only stayed four days because of Grant's ear surgery, but WHAT FUN WE HAD!! The lake was beautiful, with fresh, clear water and lots of snails to chase. Here is our new canoe - our method of transportation across the lake. One night, we took an evening canoe ride along the shores of the lake. We saw a heron, a water snake, bats, fish, and we heard LOTS of frogs. What a great canoe! We love it!

Good Friends, Good Times

All of our closest friends in Alabama are moving away! Amelia and AJ are headed to Omaha, and Lauren and Addie are headed to Langley. We will miss them soo much when they're gone, so we had them all over to dinner to wish them farewell.

Daddy gets a real summer vacation this year - an entire month with no work obligations. What ever shall we do with ourselves? I have a good idea... And so does Grant. This was just before he demanded a Corona, some Goldfish and a second application of SPF 50.

Laurel Falls

On our Memorial Day trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we decided to take a hike to Laurel Falls. But Grant and I weren't too big on the "hike" part...so Mommy carried me up to the falls on her shoulders, and Daddy let me take Grant's place in the backpack on the way back down. But we sure did like the water part!! Yeah I fell in...oops.The backpack wasn't terrible either...
