Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Hike - 8/19/2011

At the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, we did a nature hike down to the beach. Here, you can see that the tide is beginning to come in. The water is rushing across the ground, turning this beach back into a sand bar. Quick, daddy! Don't get stuck on the sand bar! Peek-a-boo little fiddler! That's a lotta fiddler crabs! What birds can you spy, Grant?Can you spot the frogs and turtle in this lily pond?

Lobster Rolls and Mini Golf at Arnold's - 8/17/2011

Oh. My. Yumness.How's that lobster roll, daddy? After our lobster rolls, we played a quick round of mini golf. I GOT A HOLE IN ONE!!! Even mommy and daddy couldn't do that!

Cape Cod National Seashore Jr Park Rangers! 8/16/2011

Here we are! Cape Cod National Seashore's newest Junior Park Rangers! We got our ranger badges after attending the "Something's Fishy" activity, and making observations in our junior park ranger handbook. It was a lot of work, but we learned LOTS and had some fun, too. :) Here, Grant is learning more about our favorite fish - a pipefish! Did you know that pipefish are related to seahorses? You can tell because their heads are shaped the same. Ready to dig into the touch tank and learn about the animals of the salt pond. Grant is scaring a hermit crab back into his shell.This is a "decorator crab"! It uses its spit to add things from the bottom of the ocean to the outside of its shell. The park ranger said it is a type of "camouflage" that makes them more difficult to see in the water. This helps them to avoid getting eaten! Isn't that cool?? We are fearless!

Biking Cape Cod National Seashore & Coast Guard Beach - 8/15/2011

Today, I got to ride a bike with mommy, and Grant rode a bike with daddy. We rode our bikes down to the Cape Cod National Seashore. We got to see the Salt Pond marshland and Coast Guard Beach!! It was soo much fun going down hills really fast with mommy and daddy!! Here is the rest of our bike riding group: Grandpa, Uncle Mike, Grammie Debbie, Cousin Ryan, Aunt Colleen and even Aunt Sue. :)
